  • Integrated and administered HP-UX, GNU/Linux, Solaris, and Cisco PIX firewalls for VOIP and SS7 telephony applications

  • Managed sysadmin crew on 24-hour shifts, overseeing approximately fifty Sun servers and fifty Sun, GNU/Linux, and BSD workstation-class machines

  • Designed Veritas NetBackup disaster recovery routine for seven terabytes on EMC and Network Appliance hardware; repeatedly prevented data loss despite hardware failures

  • Wrote and enforced data security policies for e-commerce division; not a single customer record was ever exposed

  • Reduced Apache memory footprint by nearly 80% (from 34 MB per fork to 7 MB) through optimization by use of virtual hosting database for over 3,000 customers

  • Implemented WCCP (Web Cache Control Protocol) gateway services on Cisco 7200 & Cisco LocalDirector for web acceleration; handled several hundred nodes on Cisco 9600 switch
