Should people have guns to enforce abortion rights in churches that exclude mormons and people who like star wars?

Do the needful and read this post. I am on a crusade to make you believe in the power of this post.

Should the same people be forced by a government to carry guns if they believe in evolution - or should they use Firefly's chinese swear words to help in tying shoes?

Furthermore, since the founding fathers were Christians, it should make sense that they would use Mutt on FreeBSD while flying model airplanes and playing the bass guitar and reading the book "Godless".. and liking pie.

I wondered all this while watching a Star Wars trailer and..
Oh lord..

well..

Depends who you're talking about.

Jefferson, Madison, John Adams, Ben Franklin - the guys who had a lot of ideological influence over the formation of our nation - were all Deists and Freemasons, and big proponents of secularism and ecumenicism.

George Washington was pretty traditional Christian, but then he didn't have a lot of influence over the actual founding. He just won the war.

Not saying he wasn't a good President or a good guy. Just that he didn't take an active role in writing the Constitution or forming our system of government.

After all, Jefferson was the guy who cut all of the supernatural references out of his Bible.

For the record, I don't really care. What bothers me is when the Founding Fathers are used as foundation for the declaration that "The United States is a Christian Nation." Which it ain't.

But a secular nation where you can believe in anything you want. No religions are persecuted.

Given the state of some "secular" nations out there, that's an important thing to remember.

And also, with respect to the city thread, that's another reason to move out of the city. You could be outgoingly Christian and not be critized for it, like you've posted before you are in the D.C. area.

Good point

For instance, I think France has gone WAY over the top towards secularism by doing things like banning Muslim head scarves in public schools. That's just stupid. Personal displays of faith are not the problem.
