DEAR JOSHUA JAMES, SOME THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Remember the good old issues of a comic book where a person who was until this point a side character joins the super team? “WELCOME TO THE XMEN, HAVOK.. HOPE YOU SURVIVE!!”

Well, J.J. there are some things you should know, to ensure that survival.

1) Time flies. Don’t waste it. By the time it has been as many years as I have known your daddy.. you will be the age I was when I met your daddy.

2) You’ll never understand women. Stop trying. Look up at mommy and say.. I love you, but I’ll never get you.. and its not fair, because they understand us.

3) Skip the anchovies.. its an acquired taste you don’t need.. its bad for you.. and nobody else likes it. Same goes for cigarettes and black jelly beans.

4) Learn to play an instrument.. it makes you a more well rounded person.. HEY LOOK, ITS ORLANDO BLOOM!!!! (Are all the girls looking the other way? Good.. okay.. learn to play an instrument because chicks love it.)

5) Don’t call girls chicks, they’ll send hate mail.

6) And most importantly, that yellow snow outside is not lemon flavored italian ice.. I’ve tried it and its awful.

I’m sure the others who post here will have great advice too..

Welcome JJ.. its a weird weird world.

  1. Advice

J.J. My advice to you as a woman…

    1) NEVER tell a girl what she hates. She will only get madder at you and then like it just to spite you.

    2) Just get that you wont get us. Half the time we don’t even get us. It comes from trying to get you. 3)Be very passionate. Seize and conquer everything that you do. Make it your own. Then you can truly say I have lived my life.

    and lastly…

    4) Alway’s have respect. No matter where you tread remember that you were once a part of that space. Treat it as if you were still there.

J.J. may you have the brightest of blessings. Enjoy it here.

    1. I’ve got a couple

      1) Don’t play hockey without a cup. Major ouch.

      2) Don’t get stung by a bee while driving a car.

  2. J.J., An offer…

When your dad won’t give you candy because “It’s over your carb count, son.” just remember that I live right around the corner. I’m always happy to hop you up on sugar and send you skipping merrily home. 🙂

  3. My .02 worth…

JJ. You will enter this world and turn it upside down. You have an amazing father, and i am not familiar with your mom, but i know your dads tastes and you are in good hands i am sure. My advice is:

    1. To trust yourself. Your parents will help instill a good value base and with that you will be ready to take on anything.
    2. If it seems too good to be true it probably is.
    3. Anything worth having is worth fighting for. I don’t mean that you need to get into physical fights for things, but most things in life will not be handed to you. In that same breath you should know that nothing is out of your reach.
    4. Reach for the stars. Dare to dream.
    5. Your family and friends will get you through the best and worse moments in your life.
    6. The quality of your friends is more important than the quantity of them.

Best Wishes, and if you ever need anything, my door is always open to a Barnson.

    ~Jon~
