Tutorial Request

I’m the dork that likes knowing how to use all the latest and greatest tech toys.

Matt, I notice the “Allowed HTML tags” at the bottom of the blog entry box. I’m assuming this gives us the ability to manipulate font, hyperlink, etc. Can you put a tutorial somewhere on barnson.org to teach us how to use this as well as other blog features? List it under the Resources area perhaps.

    1. Things not to do

      Important things not to do (I don’t want to squash ’em, but I can):

      • No adjusting font sizes dramatically
      • Don’t img link to pr0n
      • Remember if you use an HR, P, BR, UL, OL, H1/2/3, or BLOCKQUOTE tag, the blog software assumes your entire post is formatted with HTML. So if you BLOCKQUOTE somebody, then you’re going to need to remember to put <P> tags at the start of each of your paragraphs.

      The easiest way for you to post formatted stories would be to use an offline HTML composer, like Mozilla Composer, get the formatting of your post the way you like it, then “view source” on that post you created, and paste the result into the text box here. If you use tags that I don’t allow, the filter on my weblogging software will strip them out, so no worries there.

      I’ve often considered using an HTML text area application to turn the comments fields here into mini-HTML-editors (JavaScript application). If enough people would enjoy that, so you wouldn’t need to worry about HTML formatting, I may just do it once I upgrade to the latest version of Drupal.

  2. Help

    I’ll see if I can get the Help module working as well, so you can use a tutorial. Other than that, the documentation at Drupal.org on how to use the software…
