Hello from the East Coast!

So I’m off work this week, visiting friends on the East Coast. I’m sitting at Justin‘s PC typing this up while checking email.

Unfortunately, somehow the Apache web server startup script on my box got foosed, and it looks like my virtual hosting provider had some kind of outage yesterday. Since I’m on vacation, I don’t feel like taking the time to debug the problem, but I’m sure it’s something fairly trivial. Using “apachectl”, the built-in apache control script, started the web server just fine, but “/usr/local/etc/rc.d/apache.sh start” didn’t do the trick — which would prevent the http daemon from starting up automatically.

It’s been an interesting few days. I flew in Tuesday, and Justin picked me up from the airport. We’ve hung out, hashed on a few tunes on the guitar, and generally had a relaxing, enjoyable time. Today I’ll be hitting the National Air and Space Museum with Jon Brusco. Not sure what else we’re going to do, but considering my flight leaves tomorrow, it doesn’t really matter — it’s just nice to hang out with friends I haven’t seen in nearly (or, erm, more than nearly) a decade.

  1. In Town??

AND…you didn’t EVEN tell your East Coast sister in law that you were in town….humph!!

    1. Ack! Thpth!

Andrea, sorry about that. I meant to, but there were several things I had to do in a short time while I was there. I meant to drop in 🙂 Totally spaced it, though. Should have called you — I just hung around Dulles airport for 6 hours today when I could have been doing something more interesting!

      1. It’s ok

I will let it go THIS time…heheheh. I understand that you had alot to do while here. So all is forgiven for now.

Don’t worry, I will be there in six weeks to bug you. Actually me and the munchken will be there in 6 weeks. You won’t recoginze my baby girl. She is almost as tall as me. Scarey, isn’t it!!

  2. hey

I’m going to pretend that I understood all that technical stuff and just nod my head.

I’m sorry I never got back to you — in the craziness of our own move, I simply forgot. All the beds are full anyway.

So I’m now back in the Old Line State – living in Mom’s guest room (for now), working for my firm’s branch office in Dupont Circle. Dani was just offered a job working as an HR Consultant in Columbia. Life is good!

    Did you have interviews, Matt?

    1. Haven’t Packed Yet

We have the walk-through, closing, and move-in less than 24 hours from now. I haven’t even packed yet.

Shani, on the other hand, had every personal possession neatly tucked away in its own individual packaging over two weeks ago.

Would you all believe that the heaviest thing I have to move is still the Korg T1? Still works like a charm after all these years.

      1. Sweet

Yeah, Christy and I picked up a Yamaha CVP-59S in our second (I think) year of marriage, and it works great. Something about a large, heavy keyboard seems to handle abuse better 🙂

        1. Korgs of Wonder

The Korg 01-W is back in my basement, still working perfectly. I found a whole box of discs that are sequenced versions of old WS songs. Also, the old multitask recorder is in my grandmother’s basement. Not sure what condition it’s in.
