In the “cool gizmos that I like” category today, I bring you self-heating coffee. Yeah, if you’re a Slashdotter, you’ve already seen it, so sue me 🙂 I think this is a very, very cool… erm, warm invention. So much so, I can’t wait for them to do this with other things… apple cider, hot cocoa, etc…

Better Application
I can think of another application for that calcium oxide heating process but can’t explain in detail because this is a family-oriented site.
Oils?
I believe a similar process is used in heating some massage oils, aren’t they? Christy bought some several months ago. My main complaint was that it was a little too gummy for a good back rub 🙂

Didn’t I Just Write?
Matt, could have sworn that my above posting noted the family-oriented nature of this site. Could you cut out the ribald intimations please?

Suggestiveness vs. in-your-face…
I’m of the opinion that properly-worded suggestive humor is completely lost on children until they are of an age to appreciate it. Witness things like Shrek, where Shreks says, “Do you think he’s compensating for something?” (referring to the massive castle of Lord Farkwad).
Adults get this on a level that’s completely different from the perspective of children. Kids, if they understand the word “compensating”, will think he’s only compensating for his short stature. If they’re old enough to appreciate the suggestiveness of Shrek’s statement without needing in-your-face blatant humor, they’re probably old enough that it’s not inappropriate for them to hear the joke or discussion.
My two cents 🙂 Suggestiveness == good. Crude or disgusting == not good. It’s a matter of taste, though. My wife normally lets me know when something’s over the line and to please remove it 🙂 My tolerance for crudity is much higher than hers. It’s why I’m glad she reads the blog!

SHREK!!
He was short!! Thats all..
Oh, I’m living in a dreamland.
You’re not old enough…
You’ll never be old enough to appreciate suggestive humor. That’s why you’re an actor. Only your characters understand. Your real-life character never grew up, while your make-believe characters already did…
Not sure what all that meant, really. I’m in a goofy mood today, it’s the last “workday” before a holiday.
