Yesterday we noted that Ulf Hjertström, the sexagenarian Swede who survived a 67-day kidnapping ordeal in Baghdad, reportedly was paying professional bounty hunters a handsome fee to track down his erstwhile captors. Expressen, a Swedish tabloid, picked up the story and got in touch with Hjertström to get the lowdown.

Hjertström, an oil broker whose career took him to Iraq 25 years ago, makes no bones about the decision to exact revenge on his abductors. “I’ve lived [in Iraq] for a long time. This is how things are done there. It’s nothing new to me,

    I feel guilty almost for feeling this way, but yeah, I agree with you.

    It begs the question.. if it is right to “turn the other cheek”, is it right or wrong to “turn the other cheek” if doing so means the person who does the striking will victimize others?

    1. I vote Revenge…

      Vengence.. It is a great motivator. Even when we were kids this fueled our desires. When your Brother or sister took a toy or did something that you disagreed with Your initial actions were to do something back. Granted the Swede is on a different scale than this described, but the principle is still the same.

      It is a difficult decision to decide if the actions were right or wrong, but personally i think I might act the same way.
