Question one.. who do we boycott?
It was reported today that come september, UPN and WB will be no more. In their place will be a single network, CW (Short for CBS/Warner) – and the surviving shows will return for future seasons there.
Why do I care?
Well, my two fave franchises, Star Trek and Buffy had their homes at UPN and WB respectively (with Buffy ending on UPN after leaving WB). And I, like legins of fans, clamor for their return. In addition, there ar emany who have deserted UPN after the uncerimonious cancellation of ENTERPRISE, and the same holds true for the WBafter the unfair cancellation of ANGEL.
To be honest, I discovered the Buffyverse on DVD, but I am still kind of mad the WB got rid of it when it was getting so so good. On the other hand, I was watching the launch of UPN when VOYAGER debuted in 1995. Its weird to think these two networks will be gone.
The real question is what will the identity of the new network be? WB has been youth. UPN started scifi and is now geared toward black women. Of course.. where does Smackdown fit in there?
Could this be a good thing? It could make CW long for past glories.. and maybe use Telefilms of Buffy or Trek to gather former viewers. Hey… it worked for TNN – now SPIKE.
Lifetime Movie Network

I wish I could give some prognostication regarding the future identity of the merged networks. However, I have a problem. I have discovered the Lifetime Movie Network. And I need help getting away from the TV.
Now, before all of you fellow bloggers out there start pegging me for some massage-scheduling, garden-loving wuss, let me state that I am a hard-core alpha man. I qualify this by offering into evidence my routine weightlifting session; okay, so it’s basically me standing near weights and reading the paper for an hour, but I’m in the proximity of many men who are beefy. Plus, I shave using Old Spice products.
Somehow this sterling shell of pure male power was pierced by the allure of programming on the Lifetime Movie Network. I went from watching the football playoffs to caring more about how the character (played either by Judith Light, Meredith Baxter-Birney or Tiffany Amber-Thiesen) would extricate herself from the lousy marriage and find new love. I think it’s the mix of writing and cheesy layover music that compels. What makes this channel so special that I cannot wriggle free from its captivating lineup?

I have never had less respect for you as I have now reading that post.
I locked Amy out of Oxygen, Lifetime, and the Lifetime Movie Channel when she was pregnant, because I was tired of dealing with the overdose of emotion that accompanied them. I had to spend hours of my wife consoling her after LMC movies.
This is the same woman who would watch Special Delivery on one of the Discovery Channels about traumatic births and not have any emotion. While pregnant. Unexplainable.
I watch the new Battlestar Galactica on Sci Fi and Ground Breakers on HGTV, Maryland football and basketball, Orioles baseball and Ravens football.
Anything else is a grab bag of the available options.
Oh, and Noggin. WAAAAAAAY TOOOOOO MUUUUUUUCH NOOOOOOOGGIIIIIINNNN!!!!

Oh and for almost lifetime quality.. check out Buffy and Angel.. cuz it follows the touchy feely with Explosions, Kung Fu, and Bad guys who explode into dust after fighting Kung Fu – (There’s even a rocket launcher.. good stuff.)

New Logo
The Lifetime Movie Network went and changed its logo to “LMN”. They also re-categorized their movies under different genres: Drama, Justice, Vengeance and even Touching.
I’m hoping this doesn’t change anything about their movies. I spent 30 minutes this morning spellbound in front of the set.
I need an intervention to break my addiction.

UPN’s already got a new
UPN’s already got a new flagship for the Buffy geek, Justin, and it is called Veronica Mars. Joss himself has gone on record and said that he loves the show, and the only reason why he doesn’t direct an episode is because then he’d have to learn what happens next, and he doesn’t want to ruin it for himself.
You keep saying that..
and i guess I must check it out.. but I want more Buffyverse.
