HOWEVER…

PLEASE – if you have inside info, dont let us know.. we can speculate.. but not based on real spoilers.. lets keep those in another forum.

  1. Deaths..

It seems likely that one of the three will bite it in this one.. My guess is Hermione.. but if its Harry, I’ll be a little pissed. You dvote seven books to a protagonist.. and it hasnt felt Frodo-esque, in that a death is the only real out. Face it, all harry wanted was a cool life.. and all he ever got was crapped on.. so to kill him at the end would negate the journey.

    Just a thought indeed.

    1. I’m going to put money down

I’m going to put money down that the big three will make it. She’s not going to kill Harry, I think, for the reasons you described, Justin. And she’s made too much of the Ron Hermione get together build up to let that fizzle.

Also, from a meta standpoint, at heart these are children’s books. You can kill off beloved characters, but not the ones that your readers have literally grown up with. Not the ones they identify with.

However, I believe Snape will almost certainly die heroically in a manner that leaves no doubt in everyone’s mind that he was a good man. Although still something of a d*#k.

Oh, and btw, if you’re ever in a devilish mood, try reading through the books and replacing the word “wand” with “wang.” Some very disturbing hidden messages leap out at you.

        1. Instructions…

It reads like an instruction manual:

“Grasp your wand firmly, then swish and flick.”

Wish I’d been taught that when I was being potter-trained.

But back to the orgininal purpose of the thread….

We know for sure that someone will get the ax. As already mentioned, I believe Snape is on that list. I also have Hagrid or Ron’s dad, Mr. Weasley on that list.

Dumbledore is not dead, but will return somehow to help Harry with a final battle against Voldemort. Voldemort must die. I also think Ginny and Harry will get back together and fight side by side.

When I reread the whole series (in all my spare time) I will be looking for clues as to who took that horcrux that Dumbledore took Harry to get. We were left with initials of that person. I’m thinking there are details forgotten that will give us more clues.

I expect we will be among the masses in line for the book again this summer. I hear the release date will be 7-7-07.

It’s been a wonderful day. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!–

          2. seriously

Are you serious?! where did you find out the release date?

Thats the day after my birthday, and isn’t the next movie coming out either the 21st or 22nd of July?

As for Snape on the chopping block, I agree.

  2. Hmm

I have been re-reading the books and am in the early middle of OOTP. Having a bit o’ free time was a side effect of 4 hour trips to L&D for turbutoline to stop premature labor. So here’s what I’m thinking, having digested that much in a month’s time of reading:

Also, go to Mugglenet.com. They’ve theorized about Harry Potter every which way.

If you look at all the characters in Harry Potter, only one character’s moral compass is in dispute, and that’s Snape. Everyone else is either good or bad, with minor faults. The only other character who’s moral compass might come into dispute in Draco, because JK led us to feel pity for him in HBP.

Another point I’ve found is that I can’t see how Harry would kill Voldemort, unless it’s a side effect of saving himself. He doesn’t have the ability to use Avada Kedavra, and he can’t shield his mind to protect his thoughts.

Therefore my theory is that Snape kills Voldemort once Harry destroys the horcruxes (horcruii? 😉 a la Vader. I think Hagrid bites the farm, as he’d easily sacrifice himself to save Harry and the others. I don’t think Ron or Hermione die, nor Ginny, because I think JK would want Harry to have happiness in front of him once the end comes. My other guess would be the Weasley twins. Don’t have a good reason for that one, just a hunch. Or Percy, he’s be a good guess.

Remember that there was a locket in the Black house in OOTP that they couldn’t open. I bet that’s a horcrux.

Also, I don’t believe the release date will be 7/7/07, because the movie’s due to open the following week, and I can’t imagine they do both at the same time. Although that WOULD cause a HP hype that may break all registered hype records.

JK has said that there’s more to learn about the night Harry’s parents were murdered, and that Lily’s green eyes are important. Any theories there?

      1. Labor

        Our three labor experiences:

With WV2R1 (Weed Version 2 Revision 1), it was a Monday night in September. The very first Monday Night Football game was on, and my wife came up to me and said: “The windows in the car are filthy. I’m going to go clean them. Are you coming?” And that last question was framed in such a way that I was coming regardless of what I really wanted to do. So here I am at 10 PM cleaning the back windows of our car, when she started having contractions. We took a walk around our development, and the contractions were hovering around the 5 minute mark, so we decided to go to the hospital.

They admitted her for observation, and decided to keep her overnight. She was 37 weeks, so she was far enough they wouldn’t stop the labor. Around 1-2 AM, her water broke, so then we knew it was for real. There were two problems we had with the way they handled the labor. One was the fact that her water broke at 1-2 in the morning, but they didn’t call the OB until 5:30 because they didn’t want to have to call the staff in to do the c-section overnight. Which means my wife had to unnecessarily endure 6-7 hours of labor. Plus, they did give her a Percoset after her water broke, but this was the hospital she worked at. The charge nurse and a bunch of other nurses came in to talk to her that night, so she didn’t get any sleep.

And the other thing is, is was still warm in September, so I went to the hospital in shorts and a t-shirt. For some reason, my wife was extremely hot during labor, so she turned the thermostat down. And when I say down, I mean buried in the 50s, so I was FREEZING! And everytime someone came into the room, they’d say, “It’s cold in here, let me turn up the thermo-” to which my wife would reply, in full demonic voice: “DO NOT TOUCH THE THERMOSTAT!”

But then everything went fine once they decided to call the doctor and OR staff in.

With WV2R2, we were on vacation in the Outer Banks. My wife was 33 weeks, but my sister and sister-in-law are both OB nurses, so we figured we were OK. Hee hee. Anyway, I had earned major brownie points that day. I watched WV2R1 while my wife went shopping in the morning. Then I took WV2R1 bowling while she stayed at home, read her book, lounged in the hot tub. Then I put her and WV2R1 to bed that night. The family and I played poker, and I came down to bed at 2 AM. Just as I reached for the doorknob, it opened, and my wife said, “Go get your sister.”

        “Why,” I asked?

“Because my water just broke,” she answered.

And the first thing that I thought was, “I’m not going to sleep for another 24 hours.”

So we went to the local hospital, which couldn’t handle babies delivered that early, so we took an ambulance ride up to Norfolk, VA, where they have a medical complex similar to the University of Maryland Baltimore. WV2R2 was born there. The longest 30 seconds of my life were the 30 seconds it took between when they pulled him out and we heard that first cry. It felt like an eternity. Apparently they gave my wife magnesium to stop the labor, and that makes the baby groggy.

So WV2R2 spent 9 days in NICU. It was good that he came during the beginning part of the vacation because I had the whole family close (withing 2 hours) to see her and also to keep WV2R1 occupied. And even when we went home, the hospital had converted beds on the top floor to rooms you could rent for $25/night, so my wife stayed until they released WV2R2. That was scary because he was so early, but he did realy well. He weight 5lb 7oz and was 6 1/2 weeks early, so he would have been a monster had he went full term.

With the latest release, WV2R3, my wife went to the hospital three times at 35 weeks with contractions. She hoped they would let her go, but each time they gave her shots to stop the labor. So she resigned herself that she wouldn’t have the baby until the full 40 weeks this time. As you’ve seen from the previous births, that wasn’t gonna happen, so she was 36 1/2 when her water broke this time (Dec 20th). This was the best birth by far, as my sister was there, the OB my wife likes was on duty, the midwife we like was on duty, and everything went marvelously. The care afterwards wasn’t so well, as my wife didn’t think the nurses did a good job, but the birth was uneventful, which is the best.

So the only labor we had that was scary was the second one, which was due to the fact we were 4 1/2 hours away from home and he was 6 1/2 weeks early.

        What happened with your labor?

    1. My theory is that JKR should

My theory is that JKR should learn to keep her @*#$(% mouth shut in interviews. 🙂 I have had the “big surprise” in the past TWO books ruined for me because she mentioned in some interview or another “I was in tears when I was writing this one scene when one of the characters die.”

  3. horcrux

After the last book, some friends of mine circulated the theory that Harry himself is the last horcrux — that somehow, Voldemort zapping him as an infant transferred some of Voldemort’s identity into Harry, hence the parseltongue, etc.

So therefore, Harry may have to die in order for Voldemort to die.
