Hey.. some interesting observations.
I am NOT a drug user, and I have a test to prove it.
I have decided that if you recieve a letter bashing you, it should go with the grain of salt that the person writing it is the type of person who would write a bashing letter.
I have decided that if you get a 1500 dollar phone bill, the phone company thinks its Christmas, will not help you.. and should be dumped for a better phone company.
I have learned that J.J. Abhrams will NOT be directing the Star Trek script he is writing. He will produce
I have decided that living down the street from your Mom can be crazy, but is worth it.
I have decided that I MUST buy Buffy Season 8 – THE COMIC BOOK – Written by Joss Whedon, when it comes out next month.
I have learned this: “ba ba ba”
Finally, I have learned that life is more fun when Barnsonians post… so what have you learned lately..?
I have learned…
I have learned that I have much less free time when I get a full night’s rest (or a 5 or 6-hour facsimile thereof) and a job where 3/4 of the staff have left and I and my co-workers are expected to do just as much work.
It makes it so that the last thing I want to do when I get home is look at a PC lately! But I’ve scheduled a few posts for the next few days to keep things interesting. The stress is enough for me to want to bag the job and benefits and work somewhere with a reduced workload, though. Go-Go-Go from 7 AM to 4 PM, not allowed to work overtime yet expected to deliver on-time the workload of 10 with a staff of 3 is a recipe for half-finished jobs and burned-out employees.
I’ve also learned that my de-stress activities become MUCH more important in this kind of environment. I got two new planes, finished the one I won at Christmas and have flown the crap out of it. I am about at the point, though, where I need to retire and sell some old airplanes to make room for new ones…

I have learned
I have learned…
– That my kids won’t be little forever, and that they love anytime that i can give them. I have realized that I need to throttle back every now and then to make sure that I pay attention to them and spend one-on-one time with them. Home Depot has a special “Kids Club” event the first Saturday of every month. This has become a Daddy-Daughter time that they really look forward to (and it’s free)
– That if my current job isn’t providing me the environment and opportunities that I am looking for, then I need to look elsewhere ( I have been trying for and waiting for certian things for 3 years).
– There is a great level of satisfaction with doing the home projects yourself. I have been working on finishing my basement for the last year or so and it is finally starting to come to some completion stages. It looks nice and will be a great space to have friends / family stay in when they come to visit. (Michelle is ready for Christy’s next scrapbook visit… heh)
– I have learned that snuggle time with the family on the weekend mornings is priceless. It is great to snuggle with the wife and kids and have a nice slow morning.
Amen and amen…
I find that I like my kids better the bigger they get. Not that I don’t like kids, but as I’m getting older and crotchety-er, maybe I don’t like little kids as much as I used to. Or maybe I do but they just annoy me more.
Looking forward to some absolutely AWESOME arguments with my soon-to-be-teenage daughter. I can’t wait for the shouting matches to start!

Teenage girls..
I didn’t much like them when I was a teenager.. besides wanting to make out with them.. I found them impossible to deal with.
Good lord (or in your case, good Science!!).. to have one living in the house??

Teenagers
That’s kind of funny, I had an easier time dealing with teenage girls as a teenager than teenage boys. Probably because everybody thought I was gay.
Or maybe that was WHY everybody thought I was gay…
On the flip side, my boy Zack is turning out to be a popular kid in school. Jock-like, shoots hoops for hours at home, the popular kids want to hang out with him, straight As, lots of friends. I wonder if that bubble is going to burst and he’ll embrace his nerd heritage, or if he’ll keep it up through high school.

I have learned
I have learned that it’s not necessary (and in fact, it’s impossible) to be the best at everything.
I have learned that in a capitalist society, it’s possible to have either financial security, or enough time to spend with your family, but not both.

But pretty darn good…
You must admit, you may not be the best at everything, but you can be pretty darn good at most of them. And I bet you think you are 😉 Or at least I do…

Weed’s Life Lessons
I have learned that:
1) Two-year-old love is painful and dangerous for a two-month-old. You don’t want to stop the declarations of love, but you must protect the baby from them.
2) There is a lot of potential energy in our house, and there is no one better than my two-year-old to find it and convert it to kinetic energy. He is living proof of the laws of entropy.
3) Drawing a line in the sand is the first step to boxing yourself in.
4) Fear doesn’t necessarily mean dislike. I took my 4-year-old to a wrestling match for the first time. Since we sat smack in the middle of the home team’s bleachers, it was LOUD. My boy spent the majority of the match with his hands over his ears wanting to go home. Then as we left, he tells me he really liked it and wants to go again.
5) Singing is a gateway to the soul. My two-year-old requires I sing to him when I put him down to sleep. Ben & Sam can attest to my total lack of singing ability, but I look forward to my little concert every night. And yes, Daddy WILL buy you a mockingbird. 🙂
6) I’ve turned into one of those parents. Sam called me last night and I spent half the conversation talking to him and my two-month-old in a baby voice. Sam, I’m sorry.
My $.02 Weed
What makes you think I mind?
Half the fun of calling is hearing those kids in the background.
