National Geographic just published an article discussing applications for swarm intelligence. If you aren’t familiar with computerized autonomous agents, this is a great primer for coming up to speed. I attended a presentation seven years ago about this, and understanding swarm mentality — how, working together, beings can display behavior much more intelligently than working alone — I think is critical to making accurate predictions about human behavior.
