Which blogs do you visit on a daily basis?
Six months ago I reorganized my bookmarks to give positional and priority preference to blogs. Similar to how I made a concerted effort to organize and coordinate my podcast list, I realized it was necessary to manage my bookmarks so that ‘blogs’ had its own menu folder. In this menu folder, I tried to keep sites that were truly what I consider blogs. That is, sites updated with at least tri-weekly frequency written and monitored by an individual, or a cooperative of individuals. By having an organized menu folder, I can use the ‘open all in tabs’ command so the sites spread out across the browser window in full spread.
Here’s my list, in alphabetical order:
- barnson.org, coincidentally first alphabetically and in life importance!
- Creative Techs – Quick Tips
- Fiddley Gomme, exposing myself, our very own Pete Dunn
- MichaelHyatt.com, CEO of a major publishing house
- Gilbert Consulting, top Adobe CS consultant in town
- InDesign Secrets
- LifeHack.org
- Mental Contagion, MPLS artist magazine run by a good friend
- PostSecret, one of the most amazing sites on the web, from Germantown, MD
- Smoking Gun
- Washington Caps forum
I’d be interested to see what blogs you all visit.
The right-hand side
I pretty much subscribe to the ones that are on the right here. There are a few that I find funny/interesting/whatever that didn’t make that list, mainly because I’m not sure I want to link to them 🙂
I really prefer the forum/board format over the blog format… even though I run a blog 🙂 Basically, forums seem to scale a lot better to larger communities and handle user-initiated topics better, while blogs run into some issues handling larger amounts of traffic and are a lot more controlled.
