They’re Banning Smoking in Minnesota

To top it all off, it’s my state House Rep that introduced the bill last week. The guy lives 1/2 mile from me.

I’m so excited, I already left voice messages with all DFL party members sitting on the Human and Health Policy Committee.

Please, please, please, please….ratify that sucker!

Of course, the Hospitality lobbyists are stepping it up, protesting the ban, saying it will depress sales.

  1. It got shot down in MD

Good for you. Maybe I’ll research property values in MN 🙂

I believe a similar bill got shot down in MD this month. Delaware has such a law, but Maryland is too close to DC and the lobbyists, IMHO.

I usually against more gov’t, but for this one, I’m all for it. Smoke in your house, your car, but not when I’m eating dinner.

Weed, FYI, two months ago, Montgomery County banned smoking in all public places.

Update — my House rep just called me. I may be asked to speak in front of the State House because of my unique angle that I discussed…

“As a professional musician, I’m an artist that’s discriminated against and unfairly imperiled because my art form isn’t protected like other artists when it comes to smoke-free performances. Culinary, film, theatrical, and pictoral artists all get to perform or display their art in smoke-free places. Musicians get contracted by employers to perform music and the musicians, full-time server staff, and audience in most contemporary music halls are exposed to smoke and health-related risks. Musicians can suffer long-term smoke exposure and thus we’re unfairly discriminated against.”

And then I’ll request to raise cigarette tax by $1 so that more money can go into the education budget so that school districts will have more money to buy my products so that I can become rich.

      I love this country.
