EYE CAN SEE!!`

Yup.. thats right.. I have officially gotten old.

I donned my first pair of glasses yesterday. They are a simple, weak prescription in simple wire frames.. but still.. the difference is noticable. I can see leaves on trees.. suddenly the world looks like a photograph again, not an amalgam of crisp details (foreground) with an oil painting background.

I am excited (.. and scared ..) I know i have crossed over into new territory. How should I feel about this, y’all?

  1. Glasses

I bought my first pair of glasses at eighteen, while working at a tuxedo store. I didn’t need them, but I was annoyed at not being able to see well driving at night.

It’s only getting worse as I age 🙂

If it gets too bad, Lasik has dramatically improved over the last decade. A couple of days of recovery, and you’re seeing better than 20/20, even with the worst astigmatism. But, in the meantime, I can drive without glasses legally, so I tend to only wear them when going to movies or on long drives at night.

Oh, and by the way, here’s a functional definition of old age:

When you begin discussing health problems, and find the conversation interesting, you know you’re getting old.

First of all,, to Matt’s comment about discussing health problems, you have probably started that at a young age due to your career field. It’s okay.

In the meantime, older does mean wiser. —

Montgomery mall.. I remember bringing Taco bell and playing SMASH TV for an hour after work when i was there working at the movie theatre.

The Theatre is still there.. sadly, the arcade is gone.. but I do have SmashTV on PS2

  2. Contacts…

I have worn glasses for many years. I think I was a freshman in high school when i realized that i needed them. (Having trouble reading the board). Since then i have worn many different styles of glasses as well as contacts. I typically wear a extended wear contact that allows me to keep them in my eyes for 2 weeks or more at a time. This has been a god send since i dislike taking putting them in and taking them out, although my wife wears contacts and has no problem with taking them out every night.
