Ok, maybe not ice queen but I am just as proud. Genna had her first ice skating competition yesterday.
When she first started ice skating a year ago. I wanted her to learn the proper way to ice skate and not to compete. But her coach insisted that she try it. She thought she would be good enough. Well, my baby girl not only went through this, and by the way LOVED it…she received a silver medal in her division.
It was a close call between her and the gold medalist. She told me that she was nervous when she went to church that morning but when she stepped foot on the ice, she felt fine. She was poised, smiled, and kept her back straight.
EDIT by matthew: Formatted.
Amazed she’s old enough!
You know, I realize time is passing, but man, I still think of Genna as this tiny little thing.
But she’s not. She’s growing up, and I’m becoming an old grouch 🙂
That’s exciting to hear that she’s found a hobby she loves! So far, the only one we’ve found that Sara seems to be really interested in is basketball. It’s good to have hobbies. Zach’s main hobby lately is Warcraft 3, a PC computer game. Elijah just imitates his older brother and sister, and Josh just crawls around following people all day.
Give her a hug from me, would ya?

She is hard to live with now
Now she is VERY hard to live with. Very full of herself. Everytime she talks about it she just glows. Matt, I hate to tell you this, she is getting very big. I can’t believe Sara. I still remember her as the teeny tiny baby that I held when she was about 9 days old. Now she is almost taller than me. WOW, time flies and it is very scarey. Genna is stronger than me at times and almost seems smarter. Can that be??
Congratulations Genna!
Silver metal is awesome! I used to love to skate. I never took lessons or competed or anything like that.
By the way, Sara loves to take dance class and she’s starting Viola lessons for her birthday. The boys certainly keep us busy as well.–
