I am now with the times. I took Genna to see Eposide III yesterday. I am embarrased to admit this to my friends on this blog site…but…I have never seen Eposide I or II. I remember seeing 4, 5, & 6 but that was a million years ago. So I went out and bought the first two. They were pretty good but I got lost in the first one.
The third one was really really good. I was impressed. This one is going to make the last 3 seem like nothing. Of course, now I am going to go out and buy the last three so it will make more sense to Genna.
She got a little scared in the big scene at the end with Anakin and Obe One. But she loved it.
Good tie-in
I think Lucas did a respectable job tying them together. It definitely changes the entire meaning of the original trilogy. Instead of being horrified when you hear Darth Vader say, “No, Luke. I am your father”, you instead hear Anakin’s voice, pleading to have some connection to his beloved Padme through his son. You realize there was a change in Vader between Episode IV and V: he somehow learns of Luke’s existence, realizes he almost killed him, and is doing whatever he can to regain that attachment.
I think that The Darth Side Blog is one of the most brilliant innovations in fan-fiction that I’ve seen. It really personalizes Vader, helping you realize that, although he’s given himself fully and irrevocably (well, OK, not really) to the Dark Side, his heart yearns for Padme. He abhors what he has become, but is powerless to oppose the will of his master and mentor, Palpatine.
Very cool read, I highly recommend it 🙂
