Thanks to Jen Gagne’s post for pointing this out: Are you a nerd, geek, or dork?
Me? Well, here I am…
| Outcast Genius 65 % Nerd, 73% Geek, 69% Dork |
For The Record:
You scored better than half in all three, earning you the title of: Outcast Genius. Outcast geniuses usually are bright enough to understand what society wants of them, and they just don’t care! They are highly intelligent and passionate about the things they know are *truly* important in the world. Typically, this does not include sports, cars or make-up, but it can on occassion (and if it does then they know more than all of their friends combined in that subject). Outcast geniuses can be very lonely, due to their being outcast from most normal groups and too smart for the room among many other types of dorks and geeks, but they can also be the types to eventually rule the world, ala Bill Gates, the prototypical Outcast Genius. Congratulations! |

Sure, normal ‘now’ but ten years ago?
So, the test told me I’m:
Joe Normal 30 % Nerd, 43% Geek, 34% Dork
And my first thought was, man, that would have been way different had I taken that test in 1995 versus 2005. Maybe it’s the long-term effects of marriage or Lisa’s normalizing effects, but the test made me remember that I’ve not been to a Star Trek convention since at least ’95. Not that I feel more compelled to attend one now, seeing that the kids wouldn’t take too kindly to a bunch of Klingons walking around in full garb. Anyway, a worthwhile exercise, and I am sure that Lisa will say, ‘No kidding’ when I tell her how I scored.
Hope all are well. It’s been a crazy few months, and though I’ve not posted, I’ve dropped in on occasion. I’ll need to write a longer post next week to update everyone. Have a good weekend. I’ll be at RFK watching my team flounder their way out of the wild card race.
Go Nationals!

My responses were… Interesting…
39 % Nerd, 60% Geek, 13% Dork
A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Geek, earning you the title of: Pure Geek.
It’s not that you’re a school junkie, like the nerd, and you don’t really stand out in a crowd, like the dork, you just have some interests that aren’t quite mainstream. Perhaps it’s anime, perhaps it’s computers, perhaps it’s bottlecaps, perhaps it’s all of those and more. Your interests take you to events and gatherings that are filled with people you find unusual and beyond-the-pale, but you don’t quite consider yourself “of that crowd.” Instead, you consider yourself to be fairly normal.
Which, you are.
Congratulations! You’re the one on the RIGHT!
You scored higher than 11% on nerdiness
Pure Geek
Pure geek here. I’m surprised I didn’t score higher on nerdiness, though. Ah well.
Was very proud to have been able to answer in the affirmative to “Is there a movie that you can quote from start to finish without watching it?”

No big surprise.
Dork
I wonder what I answered that sent my dork-o-meter into the 98th percentile? I mean, I know I’m a dork, but Justin’s less dorky than me? ARGH!

Not very dorky at all..
Too type A for that..
No, I’m a socially uncomfortable stubborn as a mule pighead.
Glad you liked the meme…
Glad you liked the meme… if it’s any consolation, in my high-school brain, you were WAY cooler than these results would lead anyone to believe!
