private mail from barnson.org

Matthew,

I keep receiving e-mails from your site saying I have new private mail. I click the link and it says “Access Not Authorized” or something like that. It doesn’t seem to matter if I’m logged in or not.

How do I get to this private mail (and end the stream of daily e-mails)?

Thanks,
emilt

  1. View Inbox

Try clicking the “view inbox” link on the right-hand side of your screen when logged in. If you’ll send me a copy of the email you are receiving, that would be helpful for me to troubleshoot the problem.

    1. I don’t see the “view inbox”

I don’t see the “view inbox” option you mentioned. Here’s what I have available when logged in:

my blog create content my account recent posts news aggregator administer log out

This is what the e-mail says (and I get one daily):

Hi emilt, This is an automatic reminder from the site barnson.org. You have 1 unread private messages.

To read your messages, follow this link: http://barnson.org/privatemsg

This is what I get when I follow the link (even if I’m logged in before clicking):

Home Access denied You are not authorized to access this page.

      Thanks, emilt

      1. Good catch

Good catch. Somewhere along the line, privatemsg got turned off.

        Shouldn’t have, but did.

You should see the link and be able to view, delete, and send private messages again. This allows you to have non-public correspondence using the site, with other registered users, without knowing email addresses.
