Buy a shredder

Truth is scarier than fiction: Credit Card Companies will accept obviously torn and re-assembled applications.

In the spirit of Duke Nukem, I’d like to add that Chase Manhattan is a bottom-feeding, scum-sucking algae eater of a company. And that an essential personal protection device of the twenty-first century appears to be the shredder.

  1. Ownership

Who do you think has a majority stake in shredder manufacturers? Could it be…the credit card companies? Think about it.

  2. Actually, according to

Actually, according to Melissa (remember that she works for a credit card company) Federal regulations require that credit card applications that contain all filled out correctly user information legally MUST be acceptd if their credit rating is within the acceptable guidelines, otherwise people can sue the credit card companies for not accepting a completed credit form. The other information, however, (SS#, DOB, mothers’s maiden name) is the important part. Yes, someone can steal your credit card application, but without that information you are not legally liable for any of the purchases made on the card. You might lose a little bit of time calling the credit card and letting them know when you get a bill that it wasn’t yours, and the collection is sent to the local police department where the purchases were made, but your responsibility ends at calling the credit card company and telling them you didn’t order the card.

Yeah, shredding the order forms is a good idea if you don’t want to cause extra work for the cops, I suppose. I imagine that the individual writing this article used all of his real information to fill out the credit application. It would have been more telling if he mentioned that he had used all bogus information. If you want to blame someone, blame the federal government for all of their stupid ‘affirmative action’ laws that are not outdated and pointless.

So if someone does get a hold of your SSN, it makes you legally liable?

  3. Nope, you call them up and

Nope, you call them up and say it was stolen. now, if you DID fill it out yourself and pretend it’s stolen to not have to pay your charges, The police will find out about it, and you are likely to have a nice long vacation at Club Fed.
