I WANT TO PLAY WITH MY TOYS.. WAAAHHH

There is an irony to being an adult, firmly placed in the late twenties – early thirties category. On one hand, you can afford almost any toy you would have wanted as a kid (Playstation, DVDs, Home Theatres), you can go anywhere you please, and you can stay up as late as you want!!

The irony is that you don’t have time to play with your toys, you don’t have time to go anywhere at all, and you end up going to bed earlier than High School because you are desperate for sleep almost all the time..

Let me know, AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS LIKE THIS??

As you know, I have been particularly absent from our little gang of late. I now spend most of my time in my car, driving between home, work, school, and a play that opens on thursday. While at home, I spend my time scheduling my work days, doing homework, and studying lines… its awful!!

The irony is that I have just added a cool new Cable system and a Playstation 2 to my home theatre.. and I played about 30 minutes of a game that I really want to play more.. and every day i say I’m going to take some time to do it… but every day, I just sink into the couch at the end of the night with my wife, we watch a rerun of “Highlander” and go to sleep.

So, today, once again, I am planning to spend some time playin with my wonderful toys.. and once again, I have already booked the whole day up until 11 tonight.

Grr.. Why do wish our whole lives to be adults, only to become adults and wish we were Kids?

  1. The solution

The solution seems to be to either inherit money so that you don’t need to work a “real job” anymore, or win the lottery.

Good luck 🙂 It gets even better once you introduce kids into the equation. I’ve finally decided that my time is simply not my own to do with what I will, ever, and relief will come in about eighteen more years. Or, at least in about five or six, my kids will be teenagers and I can do some of the cool stuff with them or something 🙂

      1. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt

        Re: Colonoscopy:

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, didn’t want it, tried to give it back, they wouldn’t take it.

It wasn’t actually terrifically unpleasant. They give you a drug so that you remember absolutely nothing. And I don’t remember a thing about it except getting changed at the start and them showing me the enormously long black tube. Then my wife was helping me get dressed. That was my day.

        1. Colonoscopy, coming soon to a city near you

Yeah, been there done that too.

Perhaps, if we ever have a Wayward Sun reunion, we could call the album COLONOSCOPY.

Wasn;t that also known as “No Further Questions”?

            Okay.. VERY kidding.

  2. time to play

It’ll get better. The play will not last forever, and neither will school. Work, however, is another matter. But once you’re done with the play, you’ll have some peaceful moments to play that you will thoroughly enjoy and appreciate. Once school is over, there will be a big relief and breathing moment as well. Just be sure to make some time to play like once a week to tide you over ’til then!

Matt and I have to do the same thing. The work is NEVER done. Ever tried doing laundry and dishes for 6? It’s never done. So we just set things aside to make sure we have our date night and an occasional play day with the friends or for the hobbies.

Oh, the simplicity of youth. If they only knew!

  3. Yeah what’s with this whole h

Yeah what’s with this whole having to get to bed early stuff? Constantly tired and worn out even if I manage to get a full 8 hours of sleep? Trying to find 5 seconds for myself. I totally feel jipped. It should have been in a manual somewhere. Shouldn’t it have. Or did we all miss that day? Teresa

    1. Isn’t it Ironic.. Don’t ya think…

It is amazingly ironic that we work so hard so that we can afford to have the toys we want, only to run out of time to actually play with them.

What is 8 hours sleep. I have been operating off of about 5 a night for the last month or so. I just transfered into a new job that has put a large work load on me, not to mention that as part of my acceptance of the new position i had to agree to get a Cisco Certification within 90 days of my starting. Argh..

Well i am short on time which is why i have not posted in a while… Talk to you all soon..
