Recent research indicates that the long-held wisdom of slathering yourself in sunscreen before going outside may not be that smart after all. The most interesting statistic? That for every 1 death from skin cancer avoided by using sunscreen, there may be 30 deaths from other forms of cancer due to lack of Vitamin D.
Forget the sunscreen?

Makes sense
Let’s see, humans spent the last 10,000 years evolving under the sun. They lived their whole lives under then sun. They didn’t wear sunscreen. All the other animals hang out under the sun.
But suddenly, the sun is bad for us? Eh? Anything in excess can be bad. But I think the sun is kinda important to us. And the plants, and for light, heat, energy, etc…
But who needs the sun for Vitamin D? They put that in milk, right?

I think there’s a pill for it now. It’s got one of the Flinstones on it. Dino, maybe.
Well
We spent a lot of time on this planet eating rotten meat and drinking bacteria-infested water too. We’re a great deal better off without those things. Exessive sun exposure is another of those things.
Yes, we need the sun. No, we don’t need it at poisonous doses.
My personal sunscreen habit is usually satisfied by applying it when I expect to be in the sun for long periods of time. That is to say, I wear sunscreen to avoid being burned not to avoid the suns rays ever coming in contact with my skin ever. I do this not to avoid cancer either. I do it to avoid sunburn because sunburns suck.

Not to mention that during those 10,000 years living under the sun, we had significantly more ozone above us too.
Mmmmmm… ozone…
Also, according to the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy manual, sunscreen is a must for the discerning Metrosexual. It’s proven that too much sun can do long-term skin damage. As the populace becomes more aware of this, “the healthy tan” is being considered an attractive feature less and less.
