They almost got me.

Yup.. I know better.. never open an unsolicited attachment. yet there I was, mouse hovering over the attachment.. one click.. then.. no.

I thought it out.. and sure enough it was phony. Bet you ten to one the attachment was a virus. Glad I skipped the second click.. here’s their message.

  1. As Low As $2,100

C’mon dude, you’re a regularly contributing member of barnson.org who should know that the Sony Vaio SZ370 can be found for as little as $2,100 with free shipping.

$2,500 price is an automatic giveaway.

    🙂

  2. Believe it or not…

I’m the Linux and Security guru most places I go, and the other day *I* tried to open an attachment from someone I didn’t know. I thought it was a URL, but it was actually an attached PIF (Program Information File, a DOS command that was surely a virus).

The only thing that saved me?

    I was running Linux 🙂

    1. To stick up for Windows…

Any antivirus program worth its salt nowadays automatically blocks you from opening .pif files unless you very specifically tell it not too.

Just to play Devil’s Advocate. 🙂
