Spammers…

Sorry for the spam on the site this morning. Apparently the spammers are hiring people to do their work for them, and my captchas only check if it’s a human. I don’t have a good defence against actual live people logging on and posting spam. Maybe if I had to authorize every new membership…

Anyway, I’m cleaning it up, but I have to get real work done (day job, you know!) so it may be a bit

  1. Database modification…

Unfortunately, as a result of this spammer, I had to again simply delete all of the 10000+ comments he left, which left timestamps and reply counts on articles in a bad state. So “recent posts” is going to not display actual recent posts for you if you haven’t been here for a while, and some posts will show an extra comment which doesn’t exist. Otherwise, back to normal!

    1. Had to flag as “not spam”…

Heh, your comment was so spammy I had to flag it as “not spam”. I set up my spam preferences to email me when there’s a suspected spam, so many next time it won’t run all night before I catch it.
