Allow me to add myself to the list of people who have themselves listed as the creator of a theorem/rule/postulate. Knowing all along that the theorem/rule/postulate is nothing but a bit o’common sense.
Anyways, here goes:

It takes less talent & effort to critique than to create
So that’s it. That’s my epiphany!

Very true, Weed. I would add
Very true, Weed. I would add an addendum that in general, when critiquing, more milage is gotten out of positive criticism than negative.
There’s an old saying in the theatre business that critics are just the people who didn’t make it as actors, and so decided to review, but in the end really can’t do both.

There’s another old saying that goes: Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach. Those who can’t teach, critique.

A twist
Those who can’t write, write theater reviews.

I do all three: do, teach, and critique…with a teaching degree!–

Not all who teach can’t do.. but many who can’t do, teach. Many acting professors are actors with degrees who can’t land roles.

But what gets me is that what gives some people the right to critique others? What special skills did Rogers and Ebert have to get a TV show to rate movies? But their words carried a lot of weight…if they gave you two thumbs up, you definitely put that in the ad space. Even if your movie made only $10 mil.
That’s the joy of the internet, in that you can go to a review page and see 100s of reviews, and pick and choose what you think is important.
1 person’s review is an opinion. 100 people’s reviews are statistics.
Also, there’s nothing wrong with critiquing (or teaching) if you can do it as well. It’s those who can’t do it and never really tried that are annoying. Joe Buck telling me Randy Moss is horrible?! Whatever…that was funny.

There IS an art to writing a
There IS an art to writing a good review, and there are those out there who genuinely do have the ability. Of course, I won’t agree with even the best reviewer’s opinion one hundred percent of the time, but that’s not always the point for me. Like any other piece of literature or journalism (which reviews certainly are), what’s important for me is that I’m informed in an entertaining way. A good review (whether positive or negative) will bring to light facets of a movie (or play or novel) that I hadn’t previously considered, and will do so in a way that’s just as engaging and entertaining as any other well-written essay should be.
So I’d say that the problem with reviews isn’t that they’re needless, or that anyone can write one. Rather, I think a truly good review is a monumentally difficult thing to create. And so many of the “critics” who think they have the ability to create such things, don’t.

In french we have somethin
In french we have somethin sayin “la critique est facile mais l’art est difficile” “the critic is easy, but the art is difficult”. So i guess your theorem is not so new. but nice try anyway 🙂
