A request for Matt

Matt,

Does Drupal have an option to email me notifications of new posts. Maybe even on a schedule, like once an hour or every six?

I added the XML feed to my Firefox bookmarks, but that doesn’t show me new posts, just new blog entries.
As a junkie, I’d like to know when new posts are added so I can know when to come and read them 😉

Just wondering

  1. What i do..

The first thing I do when i come on the site is click “recent posts” – they’re often more interesting than the original blog.. (especially the old ones)

    1. That’s what I do

I do that already. I want the site to tell me when there’s new posts, I don’t want to have to check.

Technology….here to serve us (for now) 😉

  2. Am I wrong?

I think there are a couple of modules available.

One is called Comment RSS and it allows for new comments to show in an optional RSS feed.

The other is Notify. Notify provides e-mail notifications to members about updates and changes to the Drupal web site.

    1. Notify

Yep, I think I had that installed at one point. The resulting mail flood from the bad spammer web-crawling robots was intense 🙂 I’d just need to turn off the anonymous-notification feature, though, and it would be OK.

I’ll see what I can do, Weed. You junkie!

  3. Good Point

Weed, going request. There are more comment postings than original thread postings in this place.

    1. The point…

There are more comment postings than original thread postings in this place.

Which, actually, is kind of the point IMHO 🙂

  4. Done.

Done. Just go to: * “my account” * “My Notify Settings” tab

You can personalize your options for notification there. Thanks for the idea.

You have to be a logged-in, registered user for this to work. Notifications will be sent once per hour if anything new has been posted. I may scale this back to once per day, if the people using it tell me it’s annoying.
