My Wife The Wonderful

So I thought you were supposed to get your wife a present on Mother’s Day, not the other way around. Note the following conversation that occurred Sunday afternoon. My nephew and his wife brought their Wii to the Madre’s Day celebration, which made Weed Version 2.1 and 2.2 happy.

Note: WAG = Weed’s Amazing Goddess

WAG: I was thinking we should get a Wii.
Weed (secretly happy but playing it straight): I was thinking that too, since Caleb likes it so much. We’ll get him one for his birthday in September.

WAG: I was actually thinking we should get it before we go on vacation in July. Weed (quite ecstatic now but still keeping the game-face on): OK, if you want. WAG: You should probably start looking now so we have it by then Weed (in a delirium of joy but somehow not showing it): Uhm, if you think we should.

This is same man who secretly teared up when his son cried because he couldn’t play his cousin’s GameBoy, because I understood. Our generation (I’m (PI * 10) + 3) was the first to grow up with a joystick in our hands that wasn’t given to us by Mother Nature.

And now, I’m buying my son his first video game system. Really, it’s for him. 🙂

My two thoughts are A) How much I will damage my son’s chances with women by buying this instead of making him pitch baseballs left-handed for hours at a time and B) Does my wife comprehend what she’s unleashed? She’s locked the alcoholic in the Coors refinery after-hours. She’s stuffed $10K in the gambler’s pockets and left him at the Borgata. She bought the sexaholic baby oil and an access pass to MrSkin.com.

In other words, I love her to death. She’s the greatest.

  1. You’ll have to let me know..

I have been thinking about my next gaming system.. but I know little about the wii. I want to know your experience.. and if it plays traditional multiplatform games as well as proprietary ones.

  2. Wii!

We’re planning on a Wii for Christmas. Yeah, it’s not the most advanced console out there, but the fact is you can buy almost any previous Nintendo-branded title and it will PLAY. Legally! For around $5 a game!

    Bionic Commando here I come!

    1. Gaming

We recently updated our game systems…

We got a Wii for my oldests daughters birthday.

      It is a FUN system.

The Wii will play older Nintendo Game cube games as well as the Wii games. It comes with a built in wireless NIC that you can use to browse the internet (with a free downloaded Opera browser). You can also go to the Wii store to shop for all kinds of older games (some nintendo and some that nintendo probably bought the rights for). The way the game purchase works is that you buy “Wii Points”, 1000 pts. = $10. Games range in price from 250 pts on up. The price seems relative to the age of the game. The traditional Donkey kong, for example, is 250 pts.

The remotes are wireless and can be held in different configurations depending on the game or scene in the game you are playing. The kids and I like playing the Wii Sports game that came with our Wii. The Disc has Tennis, Golf, Bowling, and Boxing. The couple games that we have played on the Wii have not been graphics intensive, but they are a lot of fun for family play.

      ++ the other system ++

I bought an x-box about 6 years ago. It has been a nice system. I bought it as a platform for “daddy” to play on. I enjoy the shooter & strategy games, most of which aren’t the most appropriate for young kids to play. That being said, I have been eyeing the x-box 360 for a couple years. The games for this updated system are more advanced due to the updates in processing chips and graphics processing. I took the plunge this past weekend and picked up the new x-box 360 elite. This is a slightly upgraded system compared to the classic x-box 360. The biggest advantage the elite system has is the HDMI capability. This was a nice feature that I was looking for. I sat down to play it for the first time last night and was very happy with my decision. One of the games I am addicted to is Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon 2 – advanced warfighter. The game has you playing the leader of a special ops team. One of the challenges I faced last night was that this version of the game starts to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI). This is supposed to be a feature that a lot of the 360 games are starting to incorporate. AI will now let the game change it’s actions depending on yours.

      Nothing but FUN !
